"Las Familias - a gambling den" is a spatial installation with an integrated video game.
The centrepiece is a small house made of wooden panels that are used for slide projections.
The projections are made of images of women holding guns.
Entering the house, the viewer is confronted with a video projection opposite to the entrance.
This projection shows a computerized video game.
By operating a pistol (joystick), the viewer becomes actively involved in shootin home-baked cakes.
These traditional cakes try to land on earth and destroy our world community.
The three women from the exterior of the house are also part of the game.
They invite the viewer to play the gun and to shoot down the cakes in hope of protecting society from this impending disaster.
They also guide around the game and finally they estimate the player’s aptitude and skills.
